Celebrating 50 years
A hidden Gem - a flower in the croft

In 2026, Salford Arts Theatre formley SAlford Players Theatre celebrates 50 years at the heart of its community — and everyone is warmly invited to be part of it.
Since opening in 1976, this intimate 124-seat venue has been a welcoming home for creativity, connection, and local voices in Salford.
Over the past five decades, the theatre has staged critically acclaimed fan-favourite productions including Sleuth, Pinocchio, Death of a Salesman, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It has also welcomed influential artists such as Walter Greenwood and Shelagh Delaney, whose playwriting career developed with the Salford Players, alongside acclaimed actors including Albert Finney, Ben Kingsley, and Christopher Eccleston.

The venue champions local creatives, emerging artists, and community groups, offering welcoming opportunities for people of all ages to take part, perform, create, and connect.
Looking ahead, the theatre’s mission remains the same: to continue bringing the community together through creativity, performance, and shared stories.
Join us in celebrating 50 years of local stories — and help shape the next chapter.

Our Streets Our Parks Our City By Keira Heckman and Becca Ashton
More details coming soon
An imaginative and heartfelt performance by Salford’s young actors, celebrating the spirit, stories, and soul of their city. Through movement, words, and imagination, the cast share what it means to grow up here — the friendships, the families, the places that shape them, and the streets that hold their memories.
This original piece explores the pressures of growing up, the uncertainty of what’s still to come, and the universal struggle of fitting in — or choosing not to. It’s about finding your voice, discovering who you are, and taking pride in where you’re from, even while figuring out where you’re going.
Shining a light on young lives in Salford today — their challenges, their dreams, and their unbreakable sense of belonging.
Landscape With Chimenys By Ewan MacColl
Wed 23rd – Sun 27th September
A powerful and deeply human portrait of Salford’s past, Landscape with Chimneys brings working-class life centre stage.
In the shadow of mills and factory chimneys, Ewan MacColl captures the humour, hardship, and pride of a community built on graft, solidarity, and unbreakable spirit.
This isn’t just a history lesson — it’s the sound of voices that built a city. Expect moments that are funny, moving, and fiercely honest as ordinary lives are shown to be anything but small. MacColl’s writing celebrates the culture, language, and identity of Salford, shining a light on stories that still echo today
Salford’s history. Salford’s people. Salford’s spirit.
